In its 2022 Year in Infrastructure (YII) event, Bentley Systems introduced a range of enhanced products that leverage digital twins and cloud-based data to facilitate faster, more precise design and project delivery.
Bentley's highly advanced AM system for instance, has the ability to convert 3D CAD designs into tangible components. The technology has been employed to create everything from assisted tools for Bentley's manufacturing partners to historically accurate tooling to help restore its famous wood shop, as well as the sanding blocks made of lightweight material that are required to make Bentley models driven in record breaking times at the Pikes Peak Challenge in America.
The ProjectWise platform was upgraded with several new features, including the capability to reuse digital components; a broader capability for civil design review and a Drive Simulation to test the feasibility of a particular design; and the addition of multiple project file formats to an integrated workspace to facilitate collaborative design reviews. Bentley also announced the new Bentley Infrastructure Cloud, a suite of integrated solutions that span the entire infrastructure project lifecycles.
The new solutions include an iTwin Bridge Monitor solution that utilizes drone video and iTwin Capture to provide real-time bridge inspections, as being able to track and monitor the performance of the bridge using IoT sensors that are layered on digital twins; and a Dam Monitoring solution that provides an unidirectional access to sensor data. Bentley has also integrated its iTwin Platform with the Embodied Carbon in Construction Calculator to help users comply with sustainability standards.
